The Witt Studio Chorus

Oklahoma Photo Autumn 12 Showcase

The Studio's chorus is made up of 60 women and 40 men from the Reading area, who produce an unusually committed, energised and rich sound - ready to pin you to the back of your chairs!

Donna Gallagher

Donna, a native of Dublin, has recently returned to Europe after a few years residing in the United States of America. She has also performed in the USA, the UK, Italy, Portugal and Germany.

Roles include The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute, Ireland & USA) Norina (Don Pasquale, Italy), Yum-Yum (The Mikado), Susanna and Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro, Italy) Nella and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi, Italy) Rosina (Barber of Seville, Portugal). She was the soprano soloist in Exsultate Jubilate (Mozart) in Viterbo, Italy and The Messiah (Handel) in Tryon, South Carolina.

Edward Hughes

Ed Hughes

Edward Hughes is a strong lyric tenor who enjoys success on both concert and opera stages.

He studied at the Royal College of Music International Opera School with Tim Evans-Jones. His relatively short career has already seen him perform solo in high profile performances in Berlin, Paris and Vietnam as well as the UK, including recently covering at the Royal Opera House.

John Milne

John Milne

Born in Dublin, John studied at the Guildhall School of Music and later at the National Opera Studio with awards from the Sligo Feis Ceoil, the Vaughan Williams Trust and the Friends of Covent Garden.

Since then John has enjoyed contracts with Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, English Touring Opera, Welsh National Opera and Opera Ireland alongside productions in Munich, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Copenhagen. He made his BBC Proms debut in the Stravinsky Mass under Andrew Parrott. John recently performed with Witt Studio Opera.

Sylvie Bedouelle

Sylvie Bedouelle

Sylvie Bedouelle has studied on the Guildhall School Opera Course, where she has sung Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites, and Mrs Herring in Albert Herring; other roles include La Périchole, Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito, Angela in La Cenerentola, Volusio in

Cajo Fabrizio by Hasse. Sylvie has been a member of the Glyndebourne Chorus for two seasons. Future plans include La Frugola in Il Tabarro by Puccini (Arcola Theatre) and Third Boy in Zauberflöte (Metz Opera, France).

Nicholas Buxton

Nicholas Buxton

Nicholas enjoys an international career. He has sung over forty leading roles and performed as a soloist in concerts and oratorios in twenty countries. Notable performances include Don Carlos,

Don Jose (Carmen), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Calaf (Turandot), and Enzo (La Gioconda), for a number of prestigious companies - including the English & Welsh National Opera companies, Scottish Opera, English Festival Opera and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Nicholas is the Artistic Director and principal Tenor of Witt Studio Opera. He is also one of our vocal coaches at The Witt Studio

Caroline Carragher

Caroline Carragher

Caroline completed her M(Mus) at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama having studied with Janet Price and Suzanne Murphy. She is a member of the acclaimed choir Serendipity; and with them

has had the opportunity to sing with Bryn Terfel, Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Dennis O'Neill, Katherine Jenkins, Catrin Finch and Jose Carreras in venues ranging from the Royal Albert Hall and the O2 arena to the pitch at the Millennium Stadium. Caroline recently performed with Witt Studio Opera.

Colin Gray

In the UK, Colin has performed at The Festival of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall alongside international superstars Katherine Jenkins and Russell Watson and at the world famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Susan Parkes

Susan Parkes

Susan is one of the country’s brightest young soprano stars. She held a scholarship at the Royal College of Music achieving both her BMus (hons) and PGDip with distinction and has considerable operatic experience.
